"Do you want to take that back?" So asked an Eighth Circuit judge of an attorney guilty of making an erroneous statement during oral arguments in what was one of my favorite law school moments from this past year. Watching that was pretty great, and I now redirect that question to Mark McKinnon, because I am pro...Republican desperation for leadership. For the wonderful unintentional comedy it has provided. The GOP seriously needs to take a chill pill when it comes to finding a voice to challenge Obama. Rush? Sarah P? Kenneth Jindal? Relax, my elephant friends. Someone will emerge. There is time (two years, really) before anointing your 2012 candidate. And at least wait until Barack has committed some sort of major misstep (urrbody know I love our very own Joe Cool in Chief, but in this political climate and with this economic situation, he will).
Anyway, the most recent example of this desperation was produced during the Mark Sanford absurdity/awesomeness. Two days ago, before all the crying in Argentina stuff was revealed and the general public simply had no idea where South Carolina's Governor had gone, Mark McKinnon of the Daily Beast tried to spin Sanford's AWOL status into something positive, even presidential. Today, it reads better than satire. Maybe McKinnon will wait until the actual facts come out before anointing his next savior of the Republican Party. (At least he accepted my offer and took it back. Fine, Mark. Just learn from this.)
Oh, and by the way, when that person arrives, can it be someone more like this? At least I'd have some respect for the opposition.
